This project started as a small listed building application to reduce a dangerous chimney, and grew to include a new kitchen, en-suite, reworked family bathroom and furniture in various rooms through the three storey house. Working with a strong brief from the client, the kitchen and en-suite spaces developed as a direct response to the listed nature of the building, with free standing furniture and fittings. A combination of great design and our own workshops created new furniture in the children's bedrooms, greatly improving storage and the feeling of space. Listed buildings are tricky to work in, and demand innovative solutions to everyday problems. The reward is an amazing house, that belies its 200 years by remaining relevant and practical in the 21st century.
